The time, place, and context of the memory become uncertain or impossible to access. The line between reality and dreams becomes blurred, or rather, in memory, dreams and reality become the same thing. Mist shrouds the vague memory. I try to recollect, like taking incomplete puzzle pieces and trying to put them back together. Pieces are rearranged. Different scenes intersect and overlap. Unrelated stories are glued and stitched together. But just like the moment we wake up, dreams are bound to shatter, no matter how we recall, they will never be what they were.In this project Contour of Mist, I try to reconstruct dreams, or dream-like reality in memories. For many of the works, I break the complete photos into pieces, reconnect them through overlaying and collage, and integrate them into a whole piece through alternative photographic processes. When a print is exposed, the picture gradually appears like a dream is veiled step by step. Through the printing process, the work is given its own breath. On the papers, images may be blurry, fragmented, or distant. Subjects may be unrecognizable. The distinction between reality and fiction may disappear. The project The Still Flow focuses on natural scenery. In the past two years, by slowly walking among mountains and seas, the artist has used the method of "walking, observing, and thinking" to understand the relationship between “stillness and motion” and make images with a large-format camera. In these seemingly “static” photos, the artist reveals the static and dynamic aspects of each subject. While the photos explore the relationship between “stillness and motion,” they together try to reveal the interdependence and transformation of the opposite sides of all things – the notion of Placing myself in the wilderness, through the act of gazing, I tried to understand the contradictions in life that couldn’t be resolved. In the wilderness, all things were estranged. When I stared at them, I became lost in the harmony of confusion and contemplation, wandering in awe, smallness, and untethered feeling. I stared at them as if staring at myself, trying to figure out the answer, but never succeeded. However, I started to realize that the thing I was seeking in the wilderness is, indeed, non-existent. That is the desire from the heart. Yet, this journey of self-seeking is eternal.
