ABOUT
Xuemeng Li (b. 2000, Yueyang, China) works across photography, video installation, and documentary film. His practice takes shape through the act of looking, exploring non-dual relationships, including those between humans and water, dreams and memory, and nature and the self. His work engages with inner experience as well as real-world concerns, such as urban transformation and environmental change. Through experimental photographic image-making and moving image practice, Li translates abstract perceptions and reflections into tangible image-based experiences.
Li’s recent solo exhibitions include The Still Flow (theBlanc Gallery, New York, 2024), Wandering Through (Banshan Gallery, Tokyo, 2023), and Finding (Banshan Gallery, Tokyo, 2022). His works have also been presented at the Detour Gallery (New York), 2024 Shanghai International Photography Festival, Three Shadows Photography Art Center (Xiamen), and Xie Zilong Photography Museum (Changsha), among others.
